Hi "Missionary Girlfriends" out there, finally a website for us!!! I have searched and searched for some information or some sort of support on being a " Missionary Girlfriend" and i have had no luck... So i decided to make a stand for all of us, I am giving us all some where to go when we are down in the dumps counting down the days for our elders to get home, when we feel like there is no one else in the world who could possibly understand what were going through- So sit back relax grab some chocolate and of course some "Letters" and lets chat about what its like being one of "US".

Well I am on month 3, not the most pleasent month but hey, its better then month 1... Right? I am still the typical "missionary girlfriend" I stalk the post man, I am the most loved customer at the post office, I am like a giddy child when THE LETTER is here, i still pick up the phone to call ???, i still do drive bys to just make sure he is still in texas, I have 3 countdown calendars and i dont miss a day, and I am just anxiously awaitng the day of his return!!! My favorite things now are watching sad movies just to get a good cry out, making fun packages, writing letters, stocking up on stationary, and eating all the junk food in the house till i feel like im going to be sick... Sound familar??? Well of course becuase at some point or another in this 24 month procces we have all been in this stage... Lets hope it gets better!!!

Well over the past couple months i have found some great talks, some cute quotes, and have stocked up on some great avice... So when your lonely heres some things that will help you stay strong and get through!!!

The typical 24 month Cylce-

Before- Emotional Rollercoaster for both of you...

1-3 Months- DIFFICULT!!! For both you and the missionary, remember to support him and let him know how proud of him you are...

4-6 Months- Time gets ticking, you feel amazing once you hit the 6 month mark

6-9 Months- Goes by pretty fast, Remember to stay close with you missionary, pray for them and write letters that are supportive and friendly!!! He will need reassurance- so will you!

9-12 Months- It all slows down... But once you hit a year you feel like its a peice a cake, untill you realize you still have one more!!!

12-15 Months- SLOW!!! Thats all i have to say...

15-20 Months- Flys by, your motivated to stick to it...

20-24 Months- Goes slower then ever, but you know you have made it, and nothing can get in your way!!!

waiting for an lds missionary

here is a great poem about the classic missionary girlfriend...

The Missionary's Girl:

Somewhere between the whirl of teen-age dates and the responsibility of matrimony, we find a lone creature called the Missionary's Girl.

They come in two varieties... engaged and hopefuls. They come in assorted sizes, weights, and colors, blue being the most common.

The missionary's girl is found at home, missing parties (Just the parties that have overzealous RM's), staying away from dances (too depressing without ??? there), paying her own way to the movies, and buying stationary by the gross.

Missionaries love them, young girls look up to them, parents tolerate them, postmen hate them, and weekly letters support them.

A missionary's girl is a composite. She has the appetite of a hormonally unstable 18-year-old girl, the enthusiasm of a wet noodle, the patience of Job, the persistence of a stainless steel salesman and the imagination of Scherazade.

She likes letters from the mission field, invitations to his home, long distance telephone calls, items for his scrapbook, pictures of him, and other girls who are waiting (I LOVE my MGs!).

She isn't much for Saturday nights out on the town ; people who say, "Two years is a long time"; or  “Don’t waste your time” or the classic “ so much can happen in two years” , new clothes with no one to wear them for; sad movies and music; movies with love scenes; knitting; wedding receptions; little sisters who date; calenders; and "Dear Janes."
A missionary's girl is an odd object: She can get lonesome, discouraged, and temporarily lose faith in the whole missionary system. No one else can write such cheerful letters in such a rotten mood. No one else can get such a thrill at the end of the day by the words, "Why yes, there is a letter for you." Nobody else is so early to bed and so early to rise.(More like....Nobody else is capable of writing such competent, lengthy, and entertaining letters in the wee hours of the morning.)
A missionary's girl is virtue with no chance to be otherwise, faith with twenty-four months to wait, prudence with 69 cents in her savings account, and beauty with no one to give a darn.

Yes, she is all this, but it will all be forgotten the day he receives his letter of release and, upon his arrival home she will probably utter the words she once considered trite, "It hasn't seemed like any time at all!"
~ Dan Valentine

***Find a guy who calls you beautiful instead of hot, who calls you back when you hang up on him, who will stay awake just to watch you sleep. Hold out for the man that will fight for you, no matter the cost.Wait for the guy who kisses your forehead, who wants to show you off to the world when you are in your sweats, who holds your hand in front of his friends.Wait for the one who is constantly reminding you of how much he cares about you and how lucky he is to have you. Wait for the one who turns to his friends and says, "...that's her."
